ENCHANTED FOREST HOME

A lovely home from the forest, most likely down the path from the house that danced with the leaves... surely surrounded by moss and toadstools, fern fronds and violets..

A GNOME HOME WHO IS DANCING WITH LEAVES!

Leaves a swirling, dancing down, merrily tumbling to the ground, wee folk laughing as they ride,
colored leaves of golden hue, ,'Oh what fun" the elves all cried as they twirled round and round~
And the little house got excited too, dancing to and fro in happiness he found!

I have not made a Tree Cupboard since I lived in Wyoming 16 yrs ago.  This hangs on the wall and is a place
to put something special or make a Gnome wall home out of .

BENT TWIG NATURE DISPLAY SHELF

This is the last shelf like this I can make. I have run out of my lovely bent twigs and limbs that I find high in the
mountains. The limbs of the aspen trees get bent from winter snow load and then turn upward to grow as
Spring comes.  I hope to find more of these next year.  The shelf is made from hand milled Incense cedar from
the area where I live.  The pine cones I have collected from the trees in my area.

Studio Shelf

I am working on a feature for my shop on the Rhythm of the Home sites which will come out in mid September.  I have to get together a variety of photos and am taking some shots of work areas, which I have not done before. Good for the record!

A place to put things I make is always a challenge because of my small space. So they are put here , there and
everywhere!

BIRCH TREE HOUSE

The Birch Tree Stump House!  this house is about 12" tall and 13" wide. It was made from the idea of a
sketch I had previously done(see earlier post) and the customer decided to go with birch bark instead of something brown. It is shown with my gnomes and playmat , which are not part of the order.

The house from the front with the door closed. The door closes with a button and loop. The little mail box lid does lift up so treasures can be left inside.

The back is essentially open for playing in, like a doll house.

The house has a ladder made of applewood and felt that goes to the second story.

This large project presented challenges and is the biggest felt item I have made. It was very complex to figure out from the beginning and took a lot of materials.  I worked on over several weeks, sometimes stopping to think things through.  It involves hand sewing, glueing and needle felting. It has layers applied on the outside and inside over a heavier felt base. It has different kinds of wool, silk and alpaca on it.  Getting it to like like birch bark turned out to be more challenging than I expected!  It took about 26 hrs. and $60 of materials.  I think if I do something like this again, I will work at a smaller scale.  This will be a tough act to follow though!!!

ROBIN SHELTER OR NATURE DISPLAY SHELF

It has been a longtime since I made a Robin Shelter. In making this one
I realized that this is also a wonderful hanging shelf for use indoors for our
Nature Display or favorite gnome home!
